An indicator that you may have to perform a repair is when you are unable to do a successful backup of your database.
To repair your database, follow these steps:
- Ensure that you are the only user logged into QXpress.
- Go to File a Repair Database.
- Click Yes or OK to the prompts that follow. The size of your database will affect the time it takes for your database to be repaired. This could range from a few minutes to a few hours.
If you are receiving a message when launching QXpress that says a database utility was found, you may have corruption in your database and you will need to run the repair that it prompts you to do.
It is very important to backup your database frequently in the event your database cannot be repaired, and to keep recent backups for at least a few months. It is recommended that you backup on a weekly or daily basis. Refer to the article on Backups for more information.
